A 35-year-old man, identified as “Yellow,” has been arrested for allegedly rapping a 5-year-old in Ibere community, Abia State.

Yellow confessed to luring the child with groundnuts and forcefully having carnal knowledge of her after being beaten by an angry mob in the community.

He blamed the devil and the cold weather caused by the rain for his desire to commit this crime.

According to the ‘Yellow’, he was sitting with some friends, eating groundnuts, when he later entered the building to retrieve something and saw the child.

He then offered her some groundnuts, after which she followed him inside, where he assaulted her. Yellow further asserted that he attempted to be gentle with the child during the act.

According to a source in the community, the assaulted child had been taken to the hospital by her family for immediate medical attention.

Also, the 35-year-old rapist has been handed over to local security personnel to be transferred to the police for a thorough investigation.
