The Court of Appeal in Lagos has upturned the verdict of the National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal in Umuahia, which nullified the election of Amobi Ogah, the member representing Isikwuato Umunneochi Federal Constituency in Abia State.
The tribunal had in September declared Nkiruka Onyejeocha, the All Progressives Congress candidate and current Minister of State for Labour, as the winner of the election.
However, the Appeal Court, in its judgment on Friday, allowed Ogah’s appeal and set aside the ruling of the lower court.
The appellate court said that Ogah’s appeal was meritorious, meaning that it had merit and was therefore successful.
Ogah is then declared the duly elected winner of the Isikwuato Umunneochi Federal Constituency election.
