ABDUCTION! Police rescue commercial bus driver after spending four days in captivity

Officers of the Nigeria police have rescued a Lagos-bound commercial driver who was abducted by gunmen last Saturday in Ondo State.

The driver identified as Omale Idoga, who was rescued on Wednesday was said to have been abducted in Ayegunle Akoko by gunmen numbering six.

Sources said the kidnappers shot into the air to scare people away and then dragged Idoga into the bush, leaving behind his bus and the passengers.

It was learnt that the kidnappers later contacted the family of their victim and demanded a ransom of N5million for his release.

The father of the victim, Francis Idoga, a retired Police officer reportedly negotiated with the abductors.

But it could not be ascertained if the ransom was paid before the abducted driver was rescued.

A source said,

“Police from Oka Akoko area swung into action and secured the release of the driver. He was rescued in one of the forests in Akoko.” 

It was gathered that the team of police led by the Area Commander, Razak Rauf, made no arrest during the operation that led to the rescue of Idoga.

The Divisional Police Officer in Oba-Akoko, Olakunle Fabolude, confirmed the release of the driver.
