Football enthusiasts and well-meaning Nigerians have congratulated the Super Falcons of Nigeria for defeating the Bayana Bayana of South Africa in the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations.
The Falcons won this year’s competition, 4-3, on penalties after Falcons goalkeeper, Tochukwu Oluehi, saved South Africa’s final spot kick.
Onome Ebi missed Nigeria’s first spot-kick as her shot hit the upright while Ngozi Ebere, Rita Chikwelu, Veronica Ihezuo and Chinaza Uchendu scored the Falcons subsequent penalties.
Taking to social media to celebrate, the Peoples Democratic Party, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, congratulated the Falcons on their win and said they have made the Nation proud.

Our Super Falcons have made us proud once again.
But I’ve not seen all the timeline Twitter feminists congratulate them.
All they know is who’s to cook and do this or that.
Clout chasers.

Wtf is “congratulations, you guys won?”
What happened to “we”, my dear man?

#AWCON2018 Congratulations to the Nigerian Super Falcons. I think it’s high time CAF made the Falcons permanent AWCON champions so the other teams can play the qualifying matches of every tournament to meet our girls in the finals. They have a long way to catching up with us.
