REP SAYS DRUG OVERDOSE IS NOT THE CAUSE! Demi Lovato finally awake as mixed reactions trail #PrayForDemi
American songstress and actress, Demi Lovato, is now awake after multiple media reports that she was hospitalised from a suspected drug overdose.
According to Variety a family member of the Grammy-nominated and multi-platinum singer expressed appreciation to everyone who sent their heartfelt get well wishes to her adding that some of the information being reported is incorrect.
In a statement the family rep said.
“Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers, and support.
“Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now.”
Also, a source close to Lovato denied heroin was the cause, which TMZ had initially reported.
According to law enforcement officials, the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a medical emergency at the 8000 block of Laurel View Drive in the Hollywood Hills, where Lovato’s home is located, before noon.
Law enforcement sources told TMZ, which was first to report the news, that Lovato, who was found unconscious, was treated with Narcan — a medication designed to rapidly reverse opioid overdose — at her home before being transported to a local hospital.
Meanwhile, some fans and colleagues of the 25-year-old celebrity have been sending heartfelt messages to support her after 6 years of apparent sobriety.
However, some Twitter users have condemned the widely publicised support directed at Lovato saying that if a regular person had “OD’D” there wouldn’t be this outpouring of sympathy.
One also said that people are partial about her plight because of her social status.
Demi has been quite open about her drug and alcohol addiction. On June 21st, the songstress released a single, Sober wherein she opened up about her addiction problems, hinting she might have broken her six years of sobriety.

We should all wrap our arms of love around Demi Lovato. I am so happy you’re alive. Thank God. If I know my monsters as well as I believe I do, we all wish you self-compassion and inner peace. And may you receive the love so many have for you. #ImConfidentInDemi Demi, I love you.

Not saying drug addiction is not important to analize the whole thing. Of course it is. But before you say – Demi Lovato, the drug addicted – think about Demi Lovato, the person, the human.#PrayForDemi pic.twitter.com/nww7l1IkGf

Absolutely no sympathy for Demi Lovato. If she was a council estate mum with 4 kids she’d be called an unfit mother and have her kids taken off her. Ridiculous double standards.

All the ‘fans’ that kicked off about Demi Lovato cancelling shows due to poor health need to focus on Demi as a person, not their own ‘need’ to see her in concert. She is clearly unwell and in need of professional help.
What’s more important, seeing her live or alive???— rikki??♀️? (@RikkiMellis_) July 25, 2018
I love how we’r all praying for Demi Lovato but Whitney Houston was called a crack head•Lamar Odom got clowned for going into coma after a drug overdose•Millions of homeless pple struggle w drug addiction but we walk right past them b’cos they are not clean enough to talk to us

Wow, Demi Lovato was doing so good. Pray for her because while I don’t know what it’s like being an addict I know what it’s like fighting depression, and anxiety, but doing that and having a mental disorder as well as being in the spotlight. It has to be tough. #PrayForDemi

This whole Demi Lovato thing is terrible but I want to see y’all show the same support for your brother, sister, cousins, friends, aunts, uncle, whoever, fighting this battle. The conversation is a lot different when it comes to the people around us.
