Prosecutors in Washington state have charged a former nurse with four felony counts of indecent liberties following accusations from three female patients, who say he sexually assaulted them while they were receiving care.

Stephen Odingo, 61, worked as a nurse at EvergreenHealth Monroe, the hospital where all three women were treated. The allegations are laid out in charging documents filed by the Snohomish County Prosecutor’s office.

The earliest complaint dates to July 2024. According to the documents, a patient told police that after she was admitted, Odingo instructed her to take off all of her clothing. She said he then “grabbed both [her] breasts and started to massage them” and “went down the front of her underwear with his hand.”

A second woman told authorities that in January 2025, Odingo hugged her several times, held her hand and asked her to take off her bra. The documents state that when she declined, he allegedly attempted to remove it himself.

Investigators said both women reported Odingo, who was then taken off their care teams.

Just days after the second alleged incident, a third patient came forward. She told investigators she felt anxious about her treatment and at first believed Odingo’s conduct was meant to reassure her, according to the documents.

She alleged that Odingo massaged her back and said, ‘Maybe you can take care of me sometime,’ before kissing her on the mouth through his mask. She also claimed he later squeezed her breasts so forcefully that she began to cry, then tried again to hug and kiss her before touching her genitals, the documents state.

Investigators said Odingo was suspended after the third report and resigned later that same month.

He is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday.

In a statement, EvergreenHealth said patient safety is a priority and that it is cooperating fully with the investigation. Because the matter is still before the courts, the hospital declined to comment further.
