Reality TV star Phyna and skit maker Carter Efe recorded victories in the celebrity boxing bouts at Balmoral Promotions’ Chaos in the Ring, held at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, on October 1, 2026.
In the main event, Ghana’s Seth “Freezy Macbones” Gyimah dethroned Nigeria’s Godday “Zodsolo” Appah to claim the WBO African Light Heavyweight Continental title.
Phyna, whose real name is Josephina Otabor, made history as the winner of Nigeria’s first female celebrity boxing bout after knocking out actress Nkechi Blessing in their scheduled four-round contest.
Speaking after her victory, the former Big Brother Naija winner called out Nollywood actress Etinosa Idemudia as her next opponent, accusing her of disturbing her through direct messages.
“I came in, and I kept my cool and did the thing. Now I would like to fight Etinosa. I think it is time I teach her a lesson,” Phyna said.
Etinosa, who watched the bout from ringside, accepted the challenge without hesitation. “I have been advising you to carry the Edo name with pride. We do not run from any fight. I accept the challenge fully,” she said.
Phyna, who pocketed N50 million for her historic win, hinted at pursuing professional boxing, noting that the victory could mark the start of a longer career in the sport.
In the second celebrity bout, Carter Efe dominated Speed Darlington in their four-round crossover contest, winning by technical knockout after the musician stopped moving.
The win extended Efe’s unbeaten run in the Chaos in the Ring celebrity series, following his unanimous decision victory over singer Habeeb “Portable” Badmus on May 1, 2026, at the Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, where all three judges scored the bout 30-27 in his favour.
The rivalry between Efe and Speed Darlington had intensified in the build-up to the October fight, with both entertainers trading confrontational remarks before settling their differences inside the ring.
In the headline professional bout, Appah lost his WBO African Light Heavyweight Continental Championship to Gyimah, who secured a unanimous decision victory to dethrone the Nigerian champion.
The event, which brought together celebrity entertainers and professional boxers for a night of rivalries and championship action, was broadcast live on SuperSport and DAZN and powered by Bet9ja.
