Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has rejected her inclusion in the Lagos State All Progressives Congress Campaign Council. She declared that she has chosen to stay away from politics.
According to The PUNCH, Abraham’s name appeared among members of the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate. This directorate was unveiled by the Lagos APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
“I’m not a member of any campaign council. I have said it recently. I am staying out of politics,” she said.
The actress asked the public to disregard reports linking her to the campaign structure. This is despite her name remaining on the published list.
Toyin Abraham distances herself from politics
Abraham was listed alongside several prominent entertainers. These include Jide Kosoko, Eniola Badmus, Bimbo Akintola, Adebayo Salami, Saheed Balogun and Bukky Wright.
Fuji stars Pasuma, Obesere and Adewale Ayuba were also named in the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate.
The council lists Lagos Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Toke Benson-Awoyinka, as director. Kosoko is co-director and Badmus serves as deputy director.
Abraham’s decision comes three years after she faced widespread criticism over her public support for President Bola Tinubu. This was during the 2023 presidential election.
The actress has repeatedly spoken about the social media attacks she and members of her family received. This followed her political endorsement.
Her latest statement makes clear that she does not intend to participate in the campaign structure. This is ahead of the 2027 elections.
