Two drivers of Mercedes-AMG vehicles have filed a class action lawsuit against luxury car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz, alleging they suffered burn injuries from the AMG logo on their driver’s seats.

The drivers, Gabriel Lahijani and Karendeep Bath, claimed the logo gets so hot from the sun that it causes burns, according to a court document filed in a California court in the United States.

They alleged that the front seats of certain Mercedes AMG vehicles have a design defect where the raised metallic AMG logo is “reasonably expected” to come in contact with a driver’s upper back, neck or shoulder.

Lahijani, a Los Angeles resident, leased a new 2026 Mercedes AMG E-Class car from an authorised Mercedes-Benz dealership, the suit states. He claimed to have received second-degree burns on his back on May 31 after sitting on the seat wearing a tank top, with a dermatologist documenting the injury as second-degree burns and describing it as “AMG inscribed.”

Bath allegedly suffered similar burns from the logo design about six weeks later. She said that when she entered her hot parked Mercedes AMG car wearing a sleeveless top, her shoulder immediately touched the logo, causing a burning sensation, according to the court document.

In the following days, a mark in the shape of the AMG logo “darkened and became visible on her skin, consistent with a thermal contact burn,” the suit stated.

Lahijani and Bath said they wanted Mercedes to compensate them for any medical expenses and any pain, suffering and emotional distress.

They also want the car company to pay for other owners to have the logo removed from their cars.
