Veteran Nollywood actress, Rita Edochie, has responded sharply to social media users who claimed she might be battling arthritis following the emergence of a video showing her dancing.

Edochie addressed the speculation in a post on her Instagram page, @ritaedochie, where she questioned the basis for associating her energetic movements and active lifestyle with a health condition.

The controversy began after the actress uploaded a video of herself dancing, prompting some online commenters to speculate that she could be experiencing health challenges.

Reacting to the claims, Edochie dismissed the comments and expressed disbelief that her critics could interpret her mobility, flexibility and active routine as signs of a physical ailment.

She also challenged those spreading the speculation to compare her level of activity with that of their mothers, insisting that she remained strong and energetic.

“Can their mothers ever be as strong, active, energetic, and flexible as I am? Impossible!” she wrote.

The actress explained that her busy schedule had involved constant movement, travelling and spending long hours on her feet while promoting her movie.

According to Edochie, the attention surrounding her name was another reason she believed some of her critics were making negative comments about her.

She suggested that jealousy was behind the remarks, particularly because she was currently trending and attracting significant attention online.

“Your empty head can only find arthritis to talk about,” she added.

Edochie subsequently called on social media users to stop making hurtful comments about other people, warning that persistent online attacks could have serious emotional consequences and potentially drive victims into depression.

Despite the criticism, the actress maintained that she would not be intimidated into abandoning social media or withdrawing from sharing aspects of her life with her followers.
