Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has climbed to third place on Galatasaray’s all-time list of highest-scoring foreign players after another prolific display for the Turkish champions.
According to Vanguard, Osimhen scored twice as Galatasaray cruised to a 4-0 victory over Erzurum FK on Friday night, taking his total for the Istanbul club to 62 goals in 76 appearances.
Osimhen moves past Milan Baros
The brace lifted the Nigerian above former Czech Republic international Milan Baros, who scored 61 goals during his time with Galatasaray.
Osimhen has also contributed 16 assists since joining the club, strengthening his growing reputation as one of the most productive foreign players in Galatasaray’s history.
The 27-year-old now trails only two names on the club’s foreign scorers chart.
Argentine striker Mauro Icardi leads with 77 goals, while Romanian legend Gheorghe Hagi occupies second place with 72.
Jardel record matched
Osimhen’s performance against Erzurum also saw him equal a scoring feat last achieved by Brazilian striker Mario Jardel during the 2000/01 season.
He became the first Galatasaray player since Jardel to score at least four goals across the club’s opening two league matches of a Süper Lig campaign.
The Nigerian has started the new season in blistering form, with four goals from his first two league appearances.
Osimhen strengthens Galatasaray legacy
Osimhen’s latest milestone adds to an increasingly impressive record since his arrival in Turkey.
His goals have made him a central figure in Galatasaray’s attack, while his rapid rise on the club’s foreign scorers list underlines the impact he has made in a relatively short period.
With Icardi and Hagi now the only foreign players above him, Osimhen has another significant Galatasaray record firmly within reach if he maintains his current scoring rate.
