Nigerian-American beauty queen Victoria Oluwakotanmi has been named Miss Grand USA 2026. She steps into the role after the organisation withdrew the title from previous winner Mekayla Li.

According to The Punch, the Miss Grand USA organisation announced Oluwakotanmi’s appointment on Friday. This happened after terminating Li’s reign just days after she won the national pageant.

First runner-up becomes new queen

Oluwakotanmi had finished as first runner-up at the August 10 competition, placing her next in line following the change.

The organisation said she would now carry the crown and represent the United States internationally.

“Victoria now steps forward to carry the crown, represent the United States,” the organisation said while welcoming her into the role.

Her appointment gives the Nigerian-American beauty queen an opportunity to compete on the international stage at Miss Grand International.

Li loses crown days after victory

Li’s reign was terminated after controversy emerged surrounding an alleged 2024 hit-and-run incident and a previous marriage.

Miss Grand USA said the decision was taken in line with its contractual policies. It also urged members of the public to avoid harassment and personal attacks surrounding the controversy.

Oluwakotanmi will now take over the responsibilities attached to the 2026 title as preparations begin for her international appearance.

The development also places another beauty queen with Nigerian roots on a prominent global pageant platform.
