The Lagos State Police Command has arrested six suspects in connection with a viral video allegedly showing miscreants harassing motorists along a Lagos road.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed the development in a post on her X handle on Thursday while reacting to the footage.
The video reportedly captured suspected miscreants attempting to damage the side mirror of a vehicle, sparking concerns among members of the public.
Adebisi explained that the police had been tracking the activities of individuals involved in similar acts and had already begun measures to tackle the situation before the video circulated widely online.
She said six suspects were later apprehended along the same road in connection with the incident.
“The command wishes to clarify that it had already been on the lookout for, and taking proactive measures against, miscreants involved in such activities even before the said video surfaced online.
“Following the incident, six suspects have been arrested on the same road, and an investigation is ongoing,” she said.
The police spokesperson further disclosed that more officers had been deployed strategically to the area to enhance surveillance and prevent a recurrence of such incidents.
She thanked members of the public for bringing the matter to the attention of the command and encouraged residents to continue sharing credible and timely information that could support police operations.
Adebisi also reiterated the command’s commitment to safeguarding motorists and other residents while intensifying efforts to combat criminal activities across Lagos State.
