A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Ayekooto Akindele, has accused the presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, of repeatedly shying away from challenges, following the former Anambra State governor’s explanation for not conducting local government elections during his tenure.
Obi, who appeared on a Channels Television programme on Sunday, attributed his inability to hold the elections to legal disputes beyond his control.
“The reasons why I couldn’t conduct the Local Government Election were litigation issues I couldn’t control”, he said.
Reacting in a post on his Facebook page, Akindele argued that Obi’s explanation reflected a pattern of avoiding difficult situations rather than confronting them.
He questioned how the former governor would manage the more complex challenges of leading Nigeria if he could not overcome obstacles in a single state.
The APC chieftain further alleged that Obi’s political history showed a tendency to move from one political party to another instead of addressing internal challenges.
“You couldn’t control a small challenge in only one state, no wonder you always run from challenges from one political party to another, giving excuses.
“The irony is you aspiring to run 36 states and FCT despite your inability to control only one state’s challenges”, he wrote.
