Nollywood actor Yinka Quadri has broken his silence following his appointment as Mayor of LASTMA, after he was decorated as a Special Marshal for the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority.

The induction ceremony took place at LASTMA’s headquarters in Oshodi, Lagos, on July 14, where the agency’s General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, personally decorated the actor and handed over his official Special Marshal kit.

Speaking out, Yinka expressed honour at the prestigious recognition. He expressed gratitude to the Governor of Lagos State, the Commissioner for Transportation, and the General Manager of LASTMA for finding him worthy of the noble responsibility.

He stated that the honour is not only a recognition of his commitment but also a call to serve with greater dedication, integrity, and passion in promoting traffic management, road safety, and public enlightenment across Lagos State.

“Today, at the Headquarters of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, I was officially decorated as the Mayor of LASTMA,” he said.

“I am deeply honoured by this prestigious recognition and sincerely grateful to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi, and the General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Mr Olalekan Bakare-Oki, for finding me worthy of this noble responsibility.”

“This honour is not only a recognition of my commitment but also a call to serve with greater dedication, integrity, and passion in promoting traffic management, road safety, and public enlightenment across Lagos State.”

“Thank you for this confidence. By the grace of God, I will strive to justify the trust reposed in me.”

The Special Marshal programme is designed to bring influential figures, including celebrities, community leaders and public stakeholders, into the fold of Lagos’s traffic management effort. Rather than relying solely on enforcement, the initiative encourages ambassadors to use their reach and reputation to nudge motorists and residents towards safer, more orderly behaviour on the road.

With a career spanning several decades in the Nigerian entertainment industry, Yinka Quadri brings significant public goodwill to the role. The veteran Yoruba actor is expected to actively participate in road safety campaigns and champion compliance with traffic regulations across the city.
