Afrobeats superstar, Davido, has revealed what he considers his greatest fear as an artiste, while drawing lessons from the career of football legend Cristiano Ronaldo.
Speaking during an interview, the singer said he regularly asks God for the wisdom to recognise the right moment to step away from music before staying too long in the industry.
Using Ronaldo as an example, Davido described the Portuguese football icon as a close friend, noting that despite his remarkable achievements, the player still became the subject of criticism during the FIFA World Cup.
According to the singer, he hopes to avoid a similar situation by leaving the stage at the appropriate time.
“My biggest fear is not knowing when to quit music. Look at Ronaldo; he’s my good friend, by the way. After everything he’s done for football, they still laughed at him during the World Cup. I pray to God every day to show me the right time to pack it up, so that I don’t use one small thing to spoil it”.
In another part of the interview, Davido disclosed his desire to establish a therapy centre dedicated to helping people who were once famous and highly successful cope with life after the spotlight.
“If there’s one thing I could build, I’ll build a centre for people who have been popular and very successful before them to have therapy”.
The singer had previously disclosed his intention to pursue a Master’s degree in Political Science at a university in the United Kingdom. The Babcock University graduate also said he planned to temporarily put his music career on hold and would not release another album until he completed the programme.
Over the years, Davido has remained one of Africa’s most celebrated music stars, earning widespread recognition through chart-topping albums and performances that have attracted thousands of fans across the globe.
The award-winning artiste has also spoken confidently about his influence in the music industry. In an earlier post on X, he declared that since his emergence on the scene, he had remained a dominant force, adding that he enjoyed the impact he continued to make.
Last year, the Grammy Award nominee also remarked that many people often unite to undermine his success, but maintained that God has continued to work in his favour despite the criticism.
