Spain have advanced to the 2026 World Cup final after defeating France 2-0 in Tuesday’s semifinal at Dallas Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

According to Sportsnet, Mikel Oyarzabal opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 22nd minute after Lamine Yamal drew a foul inside the French penalty area.

Pedro Porro doubled Spain’s advantage in the 58th minute, finishing a move involving Dani Olmo to put La Roja firmly in control.

France pushed for a response through captain Kylian Mbappe and their other attacking players, but Spain protected their lead and kept a clean sheet to complete the victory.

The result sends Spain into their first World Cup final since they lifted the trophy in South Africa in 2010.

France had hoped to reach a third consecutive final after winning the tournament in 2018 and finishing as runners-up to Argentina in 2022.

Spain will face the winner of Wednesday’s semifinal between defending champions Argentina and England in Sunday’s final.
