The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has introduced a new toll-free emergency hotline, 3367, to enhance traffic management, improve emergency response and strengthen public engagement across the state.

Announcing the initiative, LASTMA’s Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment, Adebayo Taofiq, said the new short code replaces the agency’s previous longer contact numbers with a more accessible and user-friendly communication platform.

He explained that the 3367 hotline is free to users on MTN, Glo and 9mobile networks, enabling millions of subscribers to report traffic incidents and emergencies without incurring call charges.

According to Taofiq, road users can use the hotline to report vehicle breakdowns, road crashes, disabled articulated vehicles, stranded tankers, traffic obstructions and other situations requiring immediate intervention.

He added that the platform also provides members of the public with a credible channel to report on the conduct, professionalism, and operational activities of LASTMA officials, a move aimed at promoting transparency, accountability, and improved service delivery.

To ensure broader accessibility, callers can communicate with hotline operators in English, Yoruba or Pidgin English.

Taofiq said the multilingual approach is designed to eliminate language barriers, encourage greater public participation and ensure that emergency information is communicated quickly and accurately regardless of the caller’s linguistic background.

The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr Olalekan Bakare-Oki, described the initiative as a landmark advancement in the agency’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives, facilitating seamless vehicular mobility and delivering a more responsive, technology-driven and citizen-centred traffic management system.

“The inauguration of the 3367 Toll-Free Short-Code Hotline represents another monumental stride towards institutionalising a safer, more efficient and highly responsive transportation ecosystem across Lagos State. It provides residents with a direct, convenient and cost-free channel through which incidents requiring immediate intervention can be promptly reported,” Bakare-Oki stated.

He further noted that the complexity and rapid expansion of Lagos necessitate a proactive, technology-enabled traffic management architecture that can respond expeditiously to evolving road transportation challenges.

The General Manager assured residents that all reports received through the platform would be treated with the utmost professionalism, confidentiality, and diligence, and transmitted to the appropriate operational units for immediate action. He urged the public to embrace the hotline as a vital instrument for enhancing road safety, strengthening accountability and supporting the collective aspiration for a safer, more efficient and sustainable transportation environment across Lagos State.
