United States President Donald Trump has announced plans to hold a major rally in Washington, D.C., on July 4 as part of celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the United States.
According to AFP, Trump said the event, titled “Tribute to America,” will take place at the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial and will feature military displays, air shows, live performances and a fireworks display.
The president described the gathering as “the most spectacular TRUMP RALLY of them all.”
“Starting at 7 P.M. EST, this HUGE Celebration will honor our Country’s People, Spirit, Strength, Resolve, and Triumphs,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
He added that the event would include “incredible Flyovers and Airshows featuring our Top Military Pilots and Equipment,” while he would deliver keynote remarks during the celebration.
Trump also promised what he described as “the LARGEST FIREWORKS SHOW IN HISTORY” to conclude the event.
The July 4 rally comes alongside a separate celebration scheduled for June 24, which Trump previously described as the “kick off” of a summer-long anniversary programme.
According to the president, the June event will feature performances by military bands, tenor Christopher Macchio and country singer Lee Greenwood, known for the patriotic anthem God Bless the USA.
The announcement follows reports that several musical artists withdrew from a planned 250th anniversary concert series in Washington, with some citing concerns over the event’s political nature.
Trump has sought to play a prominent role in commemorating America’s 250th anniversary, unveiling a series of events and celebrations tied to the historic milestone.
