Cristiano Ronaldo remained the centre of attention after Portugal’s 2-1 victory over Nigeria, with several Super Eagles players and team officials seen greeting the Portuguese captain at the end of the international friendly in Leiria.

In an Instagram reel shared by stansportfc, Nigerian players and members of the team’s backroom staff approached Ronaldo after the final whistle for handshakes, hugs and brief conversations following Portugal’s win over the Super Eagles.

The match, which served as Portugal’s final warm up game ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, ended with the hosts edging Nigeria thanks to goals from Pedro Neto and Francisco Conceição, while Akor Adams scored for the Super Eagles.

The footage quickly generated reactions on social media, with many fans pointing to Ronaldo’s enduring popularity among Nigerian footballers and supporters.

Despite failing to get on the scoresheet, Ronaldo remained one of the biggest attractions on the pitch as he prepares for another World Cup campaign with Portugal.

Portugal will now turn its attention to the tournament, while Nigeria shifts focus to future international assignments after missing out on qualification for the global showpiece.
