Controversial Afrobeats star Habeeb Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has announced the birth of a baby boy with his wife, Omobewaji Ewatomi, shortly after suffering a defeat in a celebrity boxing match against skit maker Carter Efe in Lagos.
The singer shared the news on Saturday via his Instagram page, just hours after losing by unanimous decision at the “Chaos in the Ring 4” event held at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel.
Although he expressed disappointment over the outcome of the bout, Portable emphasised that the arrival of his newborn son brought him greater joy than winning the title.
“My wife just gave birth to a bouncing baby boy. I value that more than a belt. You can buy the belt, but not my child,” Portable stated.
He also alleged that the fight was not conducted fairly, claiming he had been denied victory by the organisers.
“I thought I was going to dance with my belt, but I ended up with my new baby,” he said.
Meanwhile, his wife, Omobewaji, confirmed the child’s birth online, posting a brief “Alhamdulillah” message alongside updates suggesting the baby has been named Jamal Iremide.
Describing the child as her “little blessing,” she joined family members and fans in celebrating the new arrival.
Portable further disclosed that his wife went into labour while he was still in the ring, adding an emotional layer to the experience.
“While my wife was in labour, I was fighting. She gave birth to a boy. I wanted a third belt for my children; I already have two,” he said.
The development marks another addition to Portable’s expanding family, as the singer—known for his controversial lifestyle—has several children from different relationships and has previously spoken about his desire to grow his household further.
