Ghana have dismissed coach Otto Addo, the country’s football association announced on Tuesday, just hours after a friendly defeat to Germany and with little over two months until the World Cup.

The Black Stars suffered a 2-1 loss in Stuttgart on Monday, with the hosts needing a last-minute goal from Deniz Undav to secure the win. It was Ghana’s fourth consecutive defeat under Addo, following a 5-1 thrashing by Austria last week.

“The association wishes to thank Otto Addo sincerely for his contribution to the team and wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavours,” the Ghana Football Association said in a statement. The association added that it will “communicate the new technical direction of the Black Stars in due course.”

Addo, 50, had been in charge of the national team since March 2024. Ghana have been drawn in Group C for this summer’s World Cup in North America, alongside England, Croatia, and Panama.
