The Corporate Affairs Commission has announced free business name registration for 3,500 small businesses across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The Registrar-General of the Commission, Hussaini Magaji, disclosed this in a post on the commission’s X handle on Monday.

He said the initiative aims to reduce the cost of business formalization for micro and small enterprises and encourage more entrepreneurs to operate within the formal economy.

“In the spirit of the celebration, the CAC has announced free business name registration for 3,500 small businesses, to be distributed across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory,” the commission stated.

Magaji explained that the program is designed to help small businesses formalize their operations, enabling them to access government services, financing opportunities, and wider economic participation.

He also reflected on the commission’s 35-year journey, noting its evolution into a technology-driven agency focused on efficiency, transparency, and global best practices.

Additionally, Magaji revealed that the CAC will sign a collaboration agreement with Google to strengthen its digital infrastructure and service delivery, aiming to improve portal performance and ease of doing business.

He also announced the launch of a redesigned CAC website featuring new digital tools, including an AI Lawyer for instant guidance on CAC laws and procedures, and a business name generator to simplify the reservation of scalable business names.
