The Christian Association of Nigeria in the 19 Northern States and the Federal Capital Territory has expressed joy and relief over the safe release of all worshippers abducted from the Kurmin Wali community in Kaduna State.

In a statement issued in Kaduna on Thursday, the Northern CAN Chairman, Reverend Joseph Hayab, described the victims’ return as “a moment of grace and reassurance” for the church and the affected communities after days of anxiety.

Hayab specifically commended Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, for his “decisive and compassionate leadership” during the crisis. He noted the governor’s responsiveness marked a departure from past experiences where citizens felt ignored or intimidated during similar incidents.

“We especially appreciate Governor Uba Sani for showing remarkable leadership and empathy during these trying moments. He heard the cries of the people and fulfilled his promise to ensure the release of the abducted worshippers,” Hayab stated.

The association also praised the coordinated efforts of security agencies, including the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, and other operatives, attributing the successful outcome to their “tireless commitment, professionalism, and coordination.”

Gratitude was extended to the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, the Director-General of the DSS, Adeola Ajayi, and President Bola Tinubu for their roles in ensuring the citizens’ safety.

Hayab reaffirmed Northern CAN’s commitment to collaborating with government and security agencies to protect churches and communities across the region.

“Northern CAN pledges to fully support government and security agencies to ensure our churches and communities remain safe,” he said, while urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities promptly.

He described the release as symbolic, demonstrating the power of effective collaboration between government, security forces, and local communities.
