The Progressives Governors’ Forum has called for a transparent and coordinated approach to the management of party congresses and the forthcoming national convention of the All Progressives Congress.

The Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, made the call on Wednesday while presenting a communiqué after a meeting between the PGF and the APC leadership in Abuja.

Uzodimma said transparency, consistency and accountability must guide every stage of the process in order to strengthen trust and credibility within the party.

He said: “These standards must apply uniformly across all states, including where the party currently has no governors.

“The PGF reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to party unity and internal harmony.”

The governor emphasised that responsible leadership, clear communication and collective discipline were critical to enhancing public confidence in the party’s democratic processes.

He reaffirmed the Forum’s commitment to deepening internal democracy, strengthening party structures and pursuing reforms that promote transparency, accountability and inclusiveness across the country.

Uzodimma said the governors received a briefing from the APC national chairman on the ongoing national e-registration and digital membership update.

“This has recorded significant growth, increased youth participation and integration of the National Identity Number,” he stated.

According to him, the initiative is expected to support data-driven planning, improve demographic analysis and strengthen grassroots engagement in communities nationwide.

He said the governors also endorsed the timetable and institutional framework approved by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) for the upcoming congresses and national convention.
Uzodimma commended the party leadership under the National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, for effectively guiding the process.

He further confirmed that strategic engagements and state visits would be undertaken to reinforce grassroots structures and party cohesion.
He said the visits would commence in Taraba State on Jan. 31, and formally welcomed the governors of Taraba and Plateau states into the Forum.

Uzodimma reiterated the Forum’s resolve to work closely with the APC leadership to promote national development, democratic consolidation and people-centred governance.

He added that the governors expressed appreciation for President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, saying, “We will continue to partner with him to ensure good governance at all levels.”
