The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, Senator David Mark, has appealed to Nigerians to align with the party’s drive to reposition the country and deliver better governance.
The appeal was contained in a statement released on Thursday in Kano by his Special Adviser on Media, Paul Mumeh.
In his New Year message, Mark reflected on the difficulties Nigerians experienced in 2025, pointing to the sharp increase in the cost of living, food items, essential medicines and transportation.
He criticised what he described as the APC-led government’s imposition of harsh taxes, warning that such policies would “renew hopelessness.”
Mark reaffirmed the ADC’s dedication to patriotism and people-oriented leadership, encouraging Nigerians to set aside skepticism and support what he described as the party’s historic responsibility to the nation.
He said he remained confident in the strength of the populace and the prospects of building a more prosperous Nigeria.
According to him, 2025 was a particularly challenging year for the majority of Nigerians.
He said, “Yet, 2025 also brought a defining moment: the launch of Nigeria’s opposition coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on July 2.
“Since we announced the coalition, we have been encouraged by the overwhelming support and enthusiasm of ordinary Nigerians across the length and breadth of our country.
“We do not claim to be perfect, but do not doubt our sense of duty and our commitment to be on the good side of history.”
