The Confederation of African Football has appointed Mauritanian referee Dahane Beida as the centre referee for Nigeria’s Group C match against Tanzania at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Beida is regarded as one of the most experienced referees on the continent and has been involved in key matches at the ongoing tournament.

The official recently served as the Video Assistant Referee during the opening match of AFCON 2025 between hosts Morocco and Comoros on Sunday night.

Morocco won the game 2-0, with goals coming from Brahim Díaz and Ayoub El Kaabi.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles will face Tanzania in their Group C opener on Tuesday at the Complexe Sportif de Fès.

The match will be only the second time both countries are meeting at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Nigeria won the first encounter 3-1 during the 1980 AFCON finals.

The Super Eagles are in Morocco seeking a fourth AFCON title after finishing as runners-up at the 2023 edition.

AFCON 2025 runs from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.

Nigeria is grouped alongside Tanzania, Tunisia, and Uganda in Group C.

After the opening game against Tanzania on December 23 by 6:30 pm WAT, the Super Eagles will face Tunisia on December 27 at 9:00 pm before rounding off the group stage against Uganda on December 30.
