The Borno State Police Command says its operatives have foiled an attack by suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters on Malari village in Konduga Local Government Area and have begun a coordinated operation to rescue three abducted farmers.
The assault occurred on November 30 at about 12 p.m., when the insurgents—riding on more than 15 motorcycles—stormed the community and opened fire.
A 15-year-old boy, Basha Goigoi from Muna, sustained a gunshot wound to his right thigh and was taken to the General Hospital in Maiduguri, where he is currently receiving treatment, according to Daily Post.
The attackers also seized three farmers—Alhaji Kundili (35), Baba Goni (45) and Modu Baluye (50)—while they were working on their farmlands.
Police said the Crack Squad deployed in Konduga responded swiftly, engaged the terrorists in a gun duel and “successfully repelled the attack.”
A joint search-and-rescue operation involving troops of Operation Hadin Kai, police tactical squads, the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), and local hunters has since been launched to track down the assailants and free the captives.
Security agencies have urged residents to remain vigilant and provide “timely information” to support ongoing counter-terrorism efforts in the area.
