I’m still the most handsome actor alive– Chiwetalu Agu declares

Veteran Nollywood actor Chiwetalu Agu has advised women to focus on becoming financially and mentally stable before getting married.

In a video shared on his Instagram page on Monday, Agu said marriage should not define a woman’s worth or sense of fulfillment. He urged women to work on their independence and personal growth before entering into marriage.

“The best advice I can give you as a lady before you marry is to be a complete woman,” he said. “Make sure you are mentally, physically, spiritually, and financially stable before you marry. Emphasis on being financially and spiritually stable.”

Agu explained that marriage should complement a woman’s life, not complete it. “Your work, identity, or value does not depend on being married. You don’t need marriage to feel whole or fulfilled,” he said.

He also advised women to learn a skill or start a business before marriage, warning against total dependence on a man.

“Even if you are not financially stable, have something to do. Have a handwork, a business idea, or an understanding of what it means to be independent,” he said.

Agu further cautioned that a lack of financial independence could make women vulnerable in difficult situations such as divorce, widowhood, or conflicts with in-laws.

“God forbid your husband dies and you have nothing of your own. If your in-laws are wicked, they will strip you of everything your husband left behind,” he warned.
