The Nigerian Army says it has killed seven terrorists and arrested 27 suspects during coordinated operations across the country in the past 48 hours.
In a statement released on Sunday through its official X handle, the Army said the nationwide offensive followed new orders from the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, to completely destroy terrorist networks and eliminate criminal groups threatening national security.
The statement said the troops also recovered several arms, ammunition, and stolen crude oil during the operations.
In Borno State, troops of Sector 3 Operation Hadin Kai carried out a precision raid in Anguwan Church, Monguno, arresting 12 suspects linked to terror logistics and intelligence networks. Similarly, soldiers from the 192 Battalion ambushed ISWAP and JAS fighters along the Gwoza–Limankara axis, killing three terrorists and recovering an AK-47 rifle with five rounds of ammunition.
Another terrorist was reportedly neutralised by troops of 25 Brigade, Damboa, after he attempted to infiltrate their base under false pretences.
In Kaduna State, troops of Operation Enduring Peace raided a terrorist hideout in Kauru Local Government Area, killing two insurgents involved in recent attacks on civilians. In Plateau, four suspects were arrested over the murder of two residents in Riyom, while in Niger State, Operation Fansan Yamma troops killed a terrorist scout and recovered a motorcycle, phone, and other items.
The Army also recorded successes in the South-South region. Troops of 2 Brigade arrested three illegal miners in Akwa Ibom, while 144 Battalion in Abia State uncovered a refining site containing over 1,000 litres of stolen crude oil.
In Imo State, soldiers from 34 Artillery Brigade discovered another illegal refining hub in Ohaji/Egbema, seizing six drums of stolen crude oil and a canoe used for transportation.
In Delta State, troops of 90 Amphibious Battalion arrested three suspects, including one dressed in military camouflage. Fake military ranks, phones, and charms were recovered.
The Army said the operations demonstrate its renewed determination under General Shaibu to take the fight directly to terrorists, bandits, and oil thieves.
“The Army remains unyielding in its resolve to restore peace, protect citizens, and defend Nigeria’s sovereignty,” the statement added, urging the public to support military efforts with credible information..
