President Bola Tinubu has inaugurated seven newly completed projects at the University of Ilorin as part of events marking the school’s 40th convocation ceremonies.

The commissioned projects include the Faculty of Social Sciences building, a block of four lecture halls for the Faculties of Social and Management Sciences, the Department of English Drama Studio, the renovated Blocks 1–10, the upgraded Department of Geography and Environmental Management, the remodelled Unilorin Innovation Hub, and the Technical Entrepreneurship Centre road.

Represented by the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Professor Adenike Temidayo Oladiji, Tinubu said the new facilities reflect his administration’s commitment to strengthening the education sector through the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“These projects represent the spirit of progress and innovation we want for Nigeria. I urge all Nigerians to believe in our Renewed Hope Agenda and support the nation’s growth,” he said.

The President urged the university management to maintain the facilities properly and ensure their long-term use for academic and social advancement.

Tinubu also praised the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole (SAN), and his team for their work in transforming the university and aligning it with national development goals.

The Chancellor of the university and Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumin Kabir Usman, represented by the Waziri of Katsina, Senator Ibrahim Idah, commended the university’s pursuit of excellence and described the projects as valuable additions that would improve learning, research, and innovation.

He added that Unilorin’s commitment to skill development would better prepare students for challenges beyond the classroom.

In his speech, the Vice-Chancellor thanked President Tinubu for supporting the institution and reaffirmed the school’s focus on growth and improvement.

“We are committed to building on the progress achieved and making Unilorin stronger every day,” Egbewole said.

The event was attended by the university’s Pro-Chancellor, Surveyor Abiodun Jacob Aluko, principal officers, and several guests from within and outside the campus.
