Operatives of the Orerokpe Division in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State, led by CSP Paul Oboware, have apprehended a 37-year-old alleged drug kingpin, Onos Afokoghene, who is reputed for distributing substantial quantities of hard drugs in Warri and neighboring communities.
The arrest took place on October 10, 2025, at approximately 8:45 p.m., according to DAILY POST.
Alongside the suspect, police recovered a significant haul including 3 kilograms of Canadian Loud, 10 kilograms of Indian Hemp, 24 liters of soaked weed suspected to be Indian Hemp mixed in dry gin—locally called “monkey tail”—multiple sachets of Tramadol in various dosages, and two point-of-sale machines believed to facilitate drug transactions.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the development in a statement issued from Warri.
He said, “On 10th October 2025, at about 2045hrs, following credible intelligence, operatives of the Orerokpe Division arrested one Onos Afokoghene (male, aged 37 years), a notorious drug baron known for distributing large quantities of hard drugs within Warri and adjoining communities.”
SP Edafe explained, “Acting promptly on a tip-off, the Divisional Police Officer, Orerokpe Division, CSP Paul Oboware, mobilised and led his patrol teams to the identified flashpoint in Jeddo Community, where the suspect and other suspected hoodlums were reportedly engaged in selling and consuming illicit substances.”
He added, “Sensing the approach of the police, the suspects attempted to flee, but the team swiftly closed in and arrested the suspect, Onos Afokoghene, after a brief pursuit.”
“A thorough search of the scene led to a startling discovery of illicit substances and paraphernalia used in large-scale drug sales,” SP Edafe noted.
The police spokesman further stated that “The suspect is currently in custody while investigations continue to uncover his network of distributors and buyers.”
