The Kano State Police Command has commended residents for their orderly and peaceful participation in the 2025 Maukibi celebration, describing the event as one of the most tranquil in the state’s recent history.
In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the police noted that this year’s celebration reflected the same level of calm and unity seen during the Takutaha festival earlier in the year, pointing to an overall improvement in the state’s security landscape.
The Command credited the peaceful atmosphere to proactive policing strategies, intelligence-led operations, and strong cooperation between security agencies, community leaders, and residents.
“This year’s Maukibi Celebration stands as a testament to the collective effort of residents, religious leaders, and stakeholders who worked together to ensure peace and harmony,” the statement read.
Despite the general calm, the police revealed that clearance operations carried out during the event led to the arrest of 21 individuals suspected of attempting to disrupt the celebration. According to the statement, dangerous weapons and illicit substances were recovered from the suspects.
The Command noted that the arrests helped prevent potential threats to lives and property, reinforcing its commitment to maintaining public safety across the state.
