Nigerian chef, Damilola Adeparusi, popularly known as Chef Dammy, has congratulated Hilda Baci on her latest Guinness World Record for cooking the largest pot of jollof rice.

Baci achieved the feat on September 15, when Guinness World Records confirmed that the pot cooked at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, weighed 8,780 kilograms. She had announced her plan to attempt the record days earlier, on September 12.

In a video posted on Instagram, Chef Dammy praised Baci’s determination and described the recognition as a proud moment for Nigeria. She also appreciated food brand Gino for supporting the event.

“Congratulations to Hilda Baci on this great achievement. It is not easy, and I’m proud to see Nigeria shining on the global stage,” she said.

Chef Dammy also used the video to respond to fresh questions about her own cookathon. Rumours had circulated that she was planning to try again after her 2023 cooking marathon, which drew wide attention.

She dismissed the speculation, saying she had no intention of returning for another attempt. “I’m making this video because people have been asking me, ‘do you want to cook again?’ No, why would I do that? I will just like to say thank you to everyone that has been supporting me and to everybody that has been fighting on my behalf online,” she said.

Dammy first became popular in 2023 when she attempted to break Hilda Baci’s earlier cookathon record. Her effort sparked debates across social media, with many comparing the two chefs.

This time, she made it clear that she was content celebrating Baci’s success rather than chasing a repeat attempt.
