The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has issued a three-day weather forecast warning of widespread thunderstorms and rainfall across the country from Monday to Wednesday.
The agency cautioned that flash floods may occur in parts of Adamawa, Taraba, and Gombe, urging residents to take necessary precautions.
According to the outlook released in Abuja on Sunday, thunderstorms with moderate rainfall are expected in Kaduna, Gombe, Bauchi, Kebbi, Adamawa, and Taraba on Monday morning. The northern region will also experience more thunderstorms later in the day.
In the central region, NiMet predicted a cloudy atmosphere with sunshine intervals on Monday morning, with moderate rainfall over Niger, Kogi, Kwara, the FCT, and Benue. More widespread thunderstorms are expected later in the day.
The southern region will see cloudy skies with moderate rains in Ekiti, Ondo, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River in the morning, followed by rainfall across most parts in the evening.
On Tuesday, cloudy skies with sunshine intervals are expected in the north, with isolated thunderstorms in Borno, Kaduna, Gombe, Bauchi, Taraba, and Adamawa. Later in the day, Kano, Jigawa, Yobe, Katsina, Zamfara, Kebbi, and Taraba will be affected.
The central region will also see morning rains over Kogi, Niger, Kwara, Nasarawa, and the FCT, while thunderstorms are expected later across Niger, Kogi, Kwara, Benue, and Abuja. In the south, moderate rains will fall in Oyo, Ekiti, Ondo, Enugu, Anambra, Ebonyi, and Delta in the morning, with light to moderate rainfall expected later.
By Wednesday, cloudy skies with chances of light rain will appear over Sokoto and Zamfara in the morning, followed by thunderstorms across Borno, Adamawa
