As Muslims across Nigeria joined others worldwide to celebrate Eid-ul-Mawlid, some state governors called on citizens to live by the teachings of Prophet Muhammad and embrace peace, sacrifice, and love.

In Adamawa, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, through his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, congratulated Muslims and urged them to reflect on the Prophet’s example.

“May this celebration bring peace, happiness, and blessings to all. As we reflect on the teachings of Prophet Muhammad on tolerance, sacrifice, and peaceful coexistence, let us strive to emulate his virtues and work towards a brighter future for our state and nation,” he said.

He encouraged residents to support his administration’s new direction, which he said is aimed at improving lives, and also urged Muslims to use the season to pray for peace, unity, and prosperity in Nigeria.

In Anambra, Governor Chukwuma Soludo described Eid-ul-Mawlid as a time for reflection on values that can strengthen society.

“The Prophet Muhammad in his teachings preached unity, kindness, and respect for all, regardless of faith or background. This season reminds the Muslim community to embrace tolerance, understanding, and harmony for a better society,” his spokesman Christian Aburime said.

The governor also assured residents of his government’s commitment to creating an inclusive state where people of different faiths can live peacefully. He prayed that the celebration would bring “joy, peace, and prosperity to Nigeria.”

Ebonyi Governor Francis Nwifuru, in a statement by his spokesman Monday Uzor, said the celebration should renew faith and commitment to values the Prophet stood for.

“Eid al-Maulud is a time for reflection, renewal of faith, and reaffirmation of our commitment to the principles of love, peace, and compassion that Prophet Muhammad exemplified,” he stated.

Nwifuru asked Muslims to mark the festival with humility and charity while continuing to support peaceful coexistence in the state. “As we celebrate this noble event, let us unite in prayers for peace, unity, and prosperity in our dear Ebonyi State in particular and the country in general,” he said.

The governor also promised that his administration would keep pursuing policies to improve the lives of residents without bias.
