Veteran Nollywood actor, Kanayo O. Kanayo, has paid homage to the pioneers of Nigeria’s film industry, acknowledging their enduring sacrifices and the foundation they laid for what has become one of the world’s most vibrant entertainment sectors.

In a post shared via Instagram on Monday, September 1, 2025, the seasoned actor reflected on the early days of Nollywood, emphasizing that the industry was built through immense dedication and hardship.

“If Denzel Washington puts in the number of hours I put in the production here, his color will change to charcoal the next day. Because we built this industry with tears, sweat, and blood,” he stated.

Kanayo recalled the physically demanding nature of early productions, noting how passionate commitment often came at the cost of personal comfort and health. He highlighted that many of the early filmmakers operated under harsh conditions and minimal resources. “Some of us are lucky to still have our health in good condition. We started this industry at a time when there was a light called 2K. If they bring one 2K on you, they will remove it from your name,” he added.

His comments have resonated with many in the entertainment industry and fans alike, sparking renewed appreciation for Nollywood’s early contributors and the growth it has achieved over the years.

Meanwhile, Nollywood actress Mo Bimpe has responded to online criticism after a social media user mocked her for not having children while she promoted her latest film My Miracle.

The actress had premiered the movie on her YouTube channel, MobimpeTV, on Sunday when a troll targeted her on Instagram with a series of offensive remarks, accusing her of being barren and questioning her womanhood.

The attack, which quickly drew public attention, has reignited conversations around the insensitivity of online bullying and the pressure placed on women in the spotlight regarding motherhood.
