The Bauchi State Government has approved a new minimum pension of N32,000 for retirees in the state.

The decision was made during an extraordinary State Executive Council meeting held at the Government House, Bauchi, on Thursday, with Governor Bala Mohammed presiding. The announcement was confirmed in a statement signed by Abdulwahab Muhammad, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Communication.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Head of Civil Service, Mohammed Sani Umar, said the new pension rate reflects the government’s commitment to the welfare of senior citizens.

“This decision shows the Governor’s unwavering commitment to improving the welfare of retirees in the state,” Umar said, adding that the pension allowances were also reviewed upward to reflect the current economic situation.

Umar also disclosed that the council ratified the Governor’s approval for Mother Cat Ltd to continue work on the Charachara–Ragon–Magonshi–Azare road project in Katagum Local Government Area. The project covers more than 30 kilometers and will improve access to several wards under the RAAMP initiative.

Chief Economic Adviser, Yahuza Adamu Haruna, said the 2025 budget had performed well and that the government was preparing a supplementary budget for the State House of Assembly to fund more development projects.

Commissioner for Works and Transport, Prof. Titus Ketkukah, announced that the council approved the redesign and realignment of the Danazo–Gabchiyari road and the construction of a new road linking the International Conference Center to Abubakar Rimi Road. He added that payments were also approved for permanent works to K.K. Kingdom Company under a Public-Private Partnership arrangement.

In the education sector, Commissioner for Education, Dr. Lawal Mohammed Rimin Zayan, said the council approved the upgrade of selected junior secondary schools to full secondary schools to improve teaching and learning across the state.

“These decisions reflect the administration’s focus on inclusive development, fiscal responsibility, and improved service delivery,” Muhammad said.
