A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has asserted that the political destiny of former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, in the 2027 presidential race will be determined solely by divine will and the electorate, not by political adversaries.
Chief Eze’s remarks came in response to recent comments made by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, who had cast doubt on Amaechi’s ability to secure the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress in the 2027 general elections.
Reacting to Wike’s statement, Eze questioned the minister’s authority on the matter. “Has Wike become God or a member of the ADC to determine Amaechi’s political future?” he queried.
“In this regard, it is only God who has continued to determine Amaechi’s fate politically that will determine his fate come 2027,” Eze stated, emphasizing that the decision of who flies the ADC flag would be made by party delegates, not by individual opinions.
The APC chieftain also accused Wike of harboring an obsession with what he described as “Amaechicanism,” which he interpreted as a fear of Amaechi’s potential political resurgence.
Highlighting Amaechi’s past achievements as Governor of Rivers State and Minister of Transportation, Eze portrayed him as a capable leader with a track record of service and a willingness to confront corruption if elected President.
He further dismissed Wike’s recurring allegations regarding the sale of state-owned gas turbines during Amaechi’s tenure as governor, stating that the matter had already been addressed and properly documented in previous state budgets.
Eze concluded by reaffirming that Amaechi remains a formidable political figure whose future lies in the hands of God and the Nigerian populace.
