Nigerian singer Brymo has taken a public swipe at top-tier artists Burna Boy, Davido, and others for frequently remixing hit songs originally released by up-and-coming acts.
In a post shared via his Instagram story, Brymo questioned the motive behind this trend, suggesting that established artists are capitalizing on the popularity of these songs to maintain relevance rather than uplift the original creators.
He argued that this growing habit among A-list musicians is counterproductive, stifling the growth of emerging talents and robbing them of the chance to develop their own identity in the industry.
Brymo did not hold back in his choice of words, describing the practice as “vile,” and accusing the artists involved of being driven by self-interest rather than a sincere effort to support newcomers.
“Dear Nigerian mainstream ‘A-listers,’ Burna [Boy], Davido and Co, stop jumping on every hit song in a remix, especially releases by newer acts,” he wrote.
“Let other artistes find their own way. The pretending to be helping them reach higher is a ridiculous watch. Stop seeking relevance in the efforts of ones who know little about the business. It’s vile!”
The remarks reflect ongoing tensions between Brymo and several major figures in Nigeria’s music scene.
He has previously clashed with artists like Burna Boy and Davido over issues including song ownership and broader industry practices.
