A former Minister of Police Affairs, Adamu Waziri, has sharply criticised the current administration, stating that while former President Muhammadu Buhari’s government was widely seen as a failure, President Bola Tinubu’s leadership over the past two years has been nothing short of a disaster.

Speaking during an interview with Trust Television on Tuesday, Waziri did not mince words, contrasting the two leaders from the same political party — the All Progressives Congress — and painting an even grimmer picture of the current administration.

“If the Buhari government was a failure, the Tinubu government in the last two years is a disastrous catastrophe,” Waziri stated.

He went on to accuse the Tinubu-led government of exacerbating the country’s challenges, asserting that Nigeria has regressed across all sectors under the current leadership. According to him, insecurity has worsened, corruption has intensified, and the economy is in freefall.

“The economy is collapsing, ethnocentrism is at an all-time high, and insecurity continues to ravage many states,” he said, expressing disbelief at those defending the administration. “I am surprised that people whose local governments are under the control of bandits can appear on national television to endorse this government.”

Waziri urged that the Tinubu administration be subjected to an independent and objective review, beyond what he described as superficial media appearances and political spin.
