The Independent National Electoral Commission in Kebbi State has announced the commencement dates for voter registration activities across the state, while issuing a stern warning against underage and multiple registrations.
Speaking at a press conference, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for the state, Abubakar Dambo Sarkin Pawa, disclosed that the online registration portal will officially open on August 18, 2025.
He added that in-person registration will begin on August 25, 2025, and will be available on all working days.
According to Sarkin Pawa, prospective voters are encouraged to begin the registration process online from August 18, while those opting for physical registration may do so starting August 25.
Dambo Sarkin Pawa emphasized the importance of the registration exercise, particularly for individuals who have recently turned 18, urging them to take advantage of the window to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards.
He stressed that “under age and multiple registration is a severe criminal offence and will not be taken lightly.”
He further revealed that as of 2023, Kebbi State had registered over two million voters, with more than 80 percent of PVCs collected, although some cards remain unclaimed.
“The new registration affects those with mutilated PVCs, those who relocated to a new area of residences,” he said.
