A suspected Nigerien terrorist has been arrested by Nigerian army in Yobe State during a major military operation under Operation Hadin Kai.

Security sources said the suspect was caught on Monday while trying to cross a military checkpoint in Katarko, Gujba Local Government Area. His inability to speak any Nigerian language raised suspicions and led to further investigation into possible foreign terrorist links.

A military source told the News Agency of Nigeria, “He was apprehended by troops of 120 Task Force Battalion and is currently being profiled to confirm his identity and connections.”

In Borno State, two relatives of terrorists, including a woman and a child, surrendered to soldiers from 202 Battalion in Bama after escaping from the Churchur area. The source said this showed that military pressure was forcing people to flee insurgent camps.

In Sokoto State, troops of 8 Division Garrison killed two armed men during a gun battle in the Tsamaye and Mai Lalle areas of Sabon Birni. Three AK-47 rifles and a motorcycle were recovered from the scene.

Troops also stopped cattle rustlers in Kebbi State. Soldiers from 1 Battalion Rear recovered 251 cows in Sauna Village, Argungu Local Government Area. The rustlers ran away and left the cows behind, which were later returned to their owners.

In Ondo State, soldiers from 323 Artillery Regiment stopped two men suspected of trying to buy guns in Igbara-Oke, Ifedore Local Government Area. The men were said to be acting on orders from an inmate at Kirikiri Prison in Lagos, who reportedly planned to use the weapons for attacks in Zamfara State.

In Delta State, troops found a tricycle loaded with 200 litres of what appeared to be illegally refined diesel along the Jeddo–Omadino road in Warri South Local Government Area.

Also in Delta, seven suspects were arrested at what was believed to be an IPOB/ESN hideout in Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area. Items recovered included a motorcycle, four mobile phones, and other supplies.

The military said these actions were part of efforts to keep the country safe and warned that similar operations would continue across troubled regions.
