A three-storey uncompleted building collapsed in the Abedi Sabon Gari area of Fagge Local Government, Kano State, killing four people and injuring seven others.
The building came down on Sunday evening around 6:49 pm after hours of heavy rainfall.
Dr Nuraddeen Abdullahi, the Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency in Kano, confirmed the incident on Monday.
“Upon receiving the distress alert, we immediately mobilised our Search and Rescue response team to the scene in collaboration with other stakeholders,” he said.
Eyewitnesses said many people were inside the building when it suddenly collapsed, leaving several trapped under the rubble.
By early Monday, two people were confirmed dead, but later updates showed four fatalities and seven injuries.
Abdullahi said, “We concluded the emergency operations after recovering the victims. The next step is for authorities to assess the structure to know the cause of the collapse and ensure safety in the area.”
