The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has dismissed reports alleging that its officers sealed off the national secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party located in Wuse Zone 5, Abuja.
In a statement released on Monday, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, clarified that police personnel were only deployed to the area to maintain order and carry out their constitutional duties.
“The Command wishes to categorically state that this information is false, misleading, and does not reflect the true situation on ground,” Adeh said.
She further explained that the police presence at the PDP Secretariat was a preventive measure aimed at ensuring public safety and maintaining peace. “At no time was the Secretariat sealed off by the Police,” she emphasized.
The statement also conveyed a message from the FCT Commissioner of Police, urging media outlets to verify sensitive information with the Police Public Relations Office before publication to avoid spreading misinformation.
