The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, is currently holding a closed-door meeting with top leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party at the Commission’s national headquarters in Abuja.
Leading the PDP delegation to the meeting are the party’s acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum; Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State; Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State; and Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State, alongside other senior party officials.
The meeting comes ahead of the PDP’s much-anticipated National Executive Committee session, which is expected to tackle ongoing internal party disputes and outline strategic plans for the 2027 general elections.
Also present at the meeting was former Senate President Bukola Saraki, who confirmed the engagement in a social media post.
“I’ve just arrived at the INEC HQ from the Bauchi State Lodge alongside fellow leaders of our great party for a preparatory meeting with the Commission ahead of our upcoming NEC meeting,” Saraki stated, sharing a video of his arrival.
Shortly after a brief interaction with the press, the PDP delegation proceeded into a private session with Professor Yakubu and other INEC officials.
