Nigerian skit maker turned musician, Nasboi, has survived a car accident while on a nationwide tour aimed at securing a music collaboration with Afrobeats star Davido.
Recall that Nasboi had embarked on a bold mission to visit all 36 states in Nigeria, where he plans to kneel in each state as a public plea to Davido for a collaboration.
Referring to the singer as “king,” Nasboi expressed hope that the grand gesture would earn him the long-awaited musical partnership.
He explained that his journey into comedy began after he started mimicking Davido in 2019 to draw attention to his music.
While the impersonation propelled him into the spotlight as a comedian, Nasboi said his true passion has always been music — and he’s now returning to that dream.
Since beginning the unique tour, Nasboi has visited seven states: Osun, Kano, Imo, Anambra, Katsina, Niger, and Plateau. On Tuesday, he took to his Instagram story to share that he was headed to Bauchi.
However, in a follow-up Instagram Live session, Nasboi disclosed that he had been involved in a car accident on the way. Though visibly shaken, he appeared unharmed and managed to laugh off the incident, saying it was his first-ever car crash. He added that while the vehicle was damaged, he plans to continue his journey once it is repaired.
Born Nasiru Bolaji Lawal, Nasboi gained initial fame for his comedic portrayal of Davido. Over time, he built a solid fan base through his skits before transitioning into music.
He made his official musical debut in November 2023 with the release of Umbrella, a single featuring Wande Coal that quickly became a viral hit and inspired the popular “Umbrella Challenge” on social media. Following its success, Nasboi released another track titled Small Money, produced by Deeyassobeatz.
In addition to his music career, Nasboi recently signed a deal with the music distribution company ONErpm Afro-Caribbean. He also made his film debut in February with a role in the romantic comedy Dead Serious.
In 2024, he was honored with the ‘Force of Virality’ award at the Trendupp Awards, further cementing his growing influence in Nigeria’s entertainment industry. He also released his debut EP titled In Nasboi I Trust, marking a new phase in his musical journey.
