The Lagos State Government has closed down Lobster Beach Club following confirmed reports of noise pollution, drug use, and unsafe activities.

Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, made the announcement on Tuesday through a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account.

According to Wahab, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency acted after receiving several complaints from residents living near the club. People in the area had reported loud noise, use of hard drugs, and fireworks being set off carelessly at the popular beachfront spot.

“The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency received formal complaints from aggrieved neighbors about the activities at Lobster Beach Club and their adverse effects on the surrounding environment,” Wahab said.

He explained that an investigation confirmed the club was guilty of several violations. These included loud music, smoking of marijuana on the premises, illegal fireworks, and even the removal of palm trees without approval.

“These activities pose serious health and environmental risks,” Wahab added.

As a result, LASEPA sealed the club, and officials said it will remain closed until all necessary documents are submitted. This includes proof of environmental permits and evidence that the club has proper smoking zones.

Wahab also warned other entertainment venues to operate within the law or face similar action.

“The safety and wellbeing of residents will always come first,” he stated.
