The Independent National Electoral Commission has officially announced the dates for the 2026 governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun States.
According to the electoral body, the election in Ekiti State will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2026, while voters in Osun State will head to the polls on Saturday, August 8, 2026.
This announcement was made by INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, during the swearing-in ceremony of six newly appointed Resident Electoral Commissioners.
The appointments had earlier received the approval of the National Assembly.
Professor Yakubu also noted that the Commission is in the final stages of preparing for upcoming bye-elections intended to fill vacant seats in both the National Assembly and various State Houses of Assembly.
