Nigerian singer John Njenga-Njeng, popularly known as Skales, has refuted claims that he divorced his wife, Precious Hassanity, over her alleged mockery of his music career on social media.
The speculation began when an X user claimed that the singer ended his marriage because his wife failed to defend him from online trolls, calling her actions unbecoming of a supportive partner. However, Skales swiftly debunked the report, describing it as entirely fabricated.
In his response, the artist condemned the narrative as damaging and dishonest. He wrote: “This is really evil of you that you would cook up such a story. This is not fair. I have never made such a statement and this is false. Please stop spreading lies”.
Skales emphasized that he has never issued any statement regarding such claims and warned those spreading the falsehoods to desist.
Similarly, Nollywood actress and filmmaker Adunni Ade has warned media outlets and individuals circulating misinformation about her. In a statement released by her management team, Guguru Media, she denied ever granting the interview in question and called for the immediate removal of the false publication.
Adunni Ade demanded a full retraction and an unreserved apology, citing the Cyber Crimes Act and Criminal Code to remind the public that defamation and misinformation are criminal offenses.
She gave a 24-hour ultimatum for the defamatory content to be taken down, stating that failure to comply would result in legal action to protect her name and brand from being exploited for social media attention.
